The Importance of Staying in Conference Hotels

We are able to offer the special discounted room rates due to a commitment to contract for a minimum number of sleeping rooms at these hotels. If we do not fill these blocks, financial penalties will be incurred. This ultimately impacts the health of the ACA and consequently registration fees.

Sheraton information:

1. Parking: Parking at the Sheraton itself is expensive: $40/day. There is a large parking lot under City Hall (right across Queen St), which is about half that price. To enter the city hall lot by car, use the entrance on the north side of Queen right across from the Sheraton. The city hall parking lot is accessible to pedestrians from the Sheraton through the concourse level.
Note - most parking lots charge separate rates for daytime and evening/night. So a 24h period will be the sum of those two. Weekends are generally much cheaper than weekdays.

2. Health Club: There is a beautiful pool and health club in the hotel. The pool is free for guests. There is a charge for the health club part: $9. per day or $18. for the whole week (subject to change).

3. Internet: There is a charge for internet in the rooms, but the ACA has negotiated a 50% discount for delegates. Free wireless is available for hotel guests with laptops in the part of the lobby called Link (1 hour sessions at a time). There are also a limited number of terminals in the Link area (due to be expanded before the meeting).

4. Check-in/out: The reception area is due to be renovated in the summer of 2008 so should be shiny and new for the meeting. There are several automated check-in kiosks in the lobby where you can check-in or out, get additional room keys, etc. If the desk is crowded when you arrive, you could try one of those.
